Hockley Industrial Estate
We were employed to carry out the demolition works of the site at the disused Hockley Industrial Estate in Redhill to make way for a residential development.
The structures were a combination of single-storey buildings and warehouses, covering an area of approximately 1300m². Construction was a mix of brick and masonry buildings, with tiled roofs and steel portal frame buildings with asbestos clad roof sheets. Towards the back of the site was a two-storey brick-built building approx. 400m².

Project Overview
The demolition project at Hockley Industrial Estate was undertaken as part of the redevelopment of a former industrial estate to provide a new residential development in the heart of Redhill, Surrey. The existing structures, approx. 1700m² combined, that once served as various industrial outlets, had reached the end of its lifecycle and was no longer deemed structurally sound or fit for purpose. The site was situated between a neighbourhood and Network Rail, the main line from Gatwick to London Victoria.
Safety was a top priority throughout the project. Comprehensive method statement and risk assessments were conducted, which had to be reviewed and approved by Network Rail to assist with a BAPA agreement. All workers received safety training tailored to the specific hazards of the site.
